Today was all about animal experiences around Launceston.
We had a leisurely morning, sleeping a bit late and getting to breakfast around 9. At 10 we headed out for our first adventure, spending time with Monotremes - two unique species of animal only found in Australia. Platypus and Echidna are mammals that lay eggs!

We watched a film about the platypus, and then got to see 4 of them playing in the water and eating live feed. Echidnas were next. Sitting in a habitat room with four echidnas waddling around and we watched them devour their little bowls of food and then poke around looking for more. It was really fun because both animals were very different and entertaining.

We had lunch at a small local winery instead of a formal meal we had a glass of wine and shared a charcuterie board with a variety of cheese and cold meats with crackers and bread and sauces, while looking out over the vineyards.

Later in the afternoon we drove back to the coast to Georgetown, here we had a quick dinner and then arrived at our penguin experience just before six. We spent about an hour in a preserve, watching the blue/ little / fairy penguins come in from the sea in groups to pass the evening in their burrows on land. It was a very amusing hour or so. These little penguins are very cute.

Another full and interesting day.
